Hi, Let's try something new
"it's not easy being a woman" ..."because I have a lot of faith in you, I suddenly think I ought to tell you something. I learned it raising Yuichi. There were many, many difficult times, god knows. If a person wants to stand on her own two feet, I recommend undertaking the care and feeding of something. It could be children, or it could be house plants, you know? By doing that you come to understand your own limitations. That's where it starts."

From the book Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto. Her writing is wonderful to me, it's very understated and prods my mind to start thinking like a water droplet rolling down a stone into a river

I'm trying to lose a little weight, mostly by riding my bike and walking everyday but I think another way I can begin to control that is through cooking for myself. Which i've always loved, but I go through phases where I let myself become lazy and eat a lot of takeout. The act of cooking brings me to a more patient state of mind, and when one works for their food the satisfaction and pride is that much greater on a very simple level of , task: accomplishment.

Today for lunch i made 3 things:

-Mozzarella Grilled Cheese

buttered a piece of bread and placed on a hot sheet grill
then put on the bread: mozzarella, tomato slices, thinly sliced onion, pepper, (salt, thyme)
butter another piece of bread place on top and flip sandwich over
once plated, drizzle sriracha hot sauce on top

-Mixed green salad

fresh lettuce mix from farmers market (i particularly like mixes with arugula and frisee).
dressing: olive oil, rice wine vinegar, salt, pepper

-can of tomato soup
sliced spinach into it while cooking, a little sriracha, scallion, and pepper once in the bowl
